An East Liverpool man has been charged after allegedly repeatedly punching his wife, dragging her with his car, and running her over twice.

According to a report filed by Cranberry, Pennsylvania Police, 54-year-old Edmund Halstead is accused of punching his wife in the face and body several times after the two were driving away from a Butler County bar last week.

The wife told police that as she was trying to get out of the car, her husband dragged her from the car, causing what the police report describes as “significant road rash”.

After falling out of the car, police say Halstead backed the vehicle over her, then drove over her a second time.

Police say Halstead then placed his wife back inside the car and drove for several hours throughout Western Pennsylvania and into Ohio before dropping her off at a hospital in East Liverpool.

Halstead was arrested and arraigned on charges of aggravated assault, assault, and unlawful restraint with serious bodily injury.

A judge set Halstead’s bond at $50,000 and set another court hearing for Friday.
