Boardman mother accused of endangering children after drugs, alcohol found during traffic stop
A Boardman woman is accused of endangering her two children after police say they found drugs and open alcohol containers in her vehicle during a traffic stop Wednesday evening.
According to a police report from Beaver Township PD, officers noticed a vehicle swerve over a fog line multiple times on Market Street before eventually nearly coming to a complete stop before driving at a normal speed again.
Officers pulled the vehicle over and spoke with the driver, identified as 42-year-old Tiffany Michalak. Police say they smelled alcohol on Michalak upon making contact with her.
Police say two children, aged one and five years old respectively were in the back of the car as well.
Upon searching Michalak's vehicle with her consent, police located a baggy with a white crystal substance, later confirmed to be methamphetamine inside, as well as an open container of an alcoholic hard seltzer beverage with some of the drink still inside according to the report.
Police say they conducted field sobriety tests on Michalak and based on the results, she was placed under arrest and charged with OVI, two counts of Endangering Children and one count of Possession of Drugs. She was also charged with a minor misdemeanor in the form of an open container violation.
The two children in the vehicle were picked up by their father at the police station.
