A 17-year-old boy has been sentenced in connection to the murder of a Youngstown teen on Thursday.

Elijah Carlisle, 17, has been sentenced to four years in the Ohio Department of Youth Services lock up after he plead guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the killing of 14-year-old Landon Lockhart in 2021.

Officially, Carlisle was charged with being a serious youthful offender and was sentenced to three years for involuntary manslaughter with a gun and three years for the specification of a gun being used.

Since he was charged as a serious youthful offender, he could spend an extra 10 years in adult prison if he fails to follow the rules of his lock up.

In May, Carlisle pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter with firearm specifications, improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle, carrying concealed weapons and possession of a deadly weapon while under detention.

The sentencing comes after Lockhart was reported missing in November of 2021.  Months later, YPD detectives found his body in a wooded area off North Truesdale Avenue on the city's east side on January 13, 2022.

Six and a half months after Lockhart's body was found, officials arrested the first two suspects. Anjuan Whitfield and Anthony Wilkins, on June 29, 2022, and were charged with aggravated murder with a firearm specification.

Both teens had a criminal record at the time of their arrests. Wilkins had felony vandalism and robbery charges and a misdemeanor assault. Whitfield also had vandalism and robbery charges as well as felonious assault and assault charges.

Carlisle, who was arrested January 13, claimed he, Wilkins, Whitfield and Lockhart drove to a home on Youngstown's east side.

He told the court that he remained in the car while his friends and Lockhart went inside. Minutes later he heard shots fired, then two of his friends came back to the car without Lockhart.

He also testified that when his friends returned to the car both had guns in their hands.
