Conviction of former East Liverpool police officer brings loss of cop license
A former East Liverpool Police Captain has been ordered to surrender his Ohio Police Officer Training Academy license as part of his sentence on two felony counts of tampering with evidence.
Chad Tatgenhorst pleaded guilty to the charges on Thursday during a hearing in Columbiana County Court and was immediately sentenced to three years probation.
Tatgenhorst, who has already resigned from the East Liverpool Police Department, was arrested on November 4, after being indicted by a Columbiana County Grand Jury.
According to investigators, Tatgenhorst was charged for allegedly turning off the body camera of two East Liverpool police officers on a call that involved Tatgenhorst and a person known to him, and was the same person involved in a case against Tatgenhorst that he was charged with in September.
Tatgenhorst, who had been with the police department since 2001, was placed on paid administrative on August 31.
