Police are saying that they believe a Lawrence County couple fatally shot each other.

State Police in Butler County say 28-year-old Jenna Smith of Pulaski was found wounded, lying on the ground outside a car at the Park and Ride at State Route 422 and Route 19 on Monday.

Her husband, 31-year-old Jake Smith was inside the car and also suffering from gunshot wounds.

In spite of efforts from first responders, both victims died at the scene.

Investigators say both were armed with pistols and had exchanged gunfire.

Jake Smith was the subject of an investigation by State Police back in early April when his wife reported that he had sent her a text with a suicidal message.  He was later located.
