People in Newton Falls and Brookfield Township gathered on Memorial Day to honor fallen veterans with bridge dedications. Onlookers watched as city leaders in Newton Falls dedicate the West River Bridge to veterans lost at sea.

Judge Philip Vigorito says the the bridge serves as a reminder of their bravery and selflessness.

"[The bridge dedication ceremony] is to recognize individuals who lost their lives defending our country," Vigorito said, adding "They never got to enjoy the freedoms that they gave us."

Just 28 miles East of Newton Falls is where Brookfield Township officials unveiled the newly named Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge on Warren Sharon Road.

The bridge is dedicated to three Vietnam veterans who are also Brookfield natives. Inscribed on the bridge are the names of the fallen soldiers: Marine Lance Corporal, McArthur Coleman; Army Staff Sergeant, Martin Walker Jr. and Army Private First Class, Paul Good.

Family Members of the Vietnam veterans somberly remembered their relatives who endured the ultimate sacrifice.

The youngest Brother of Army Private First Class, Paul Good says he still remembers his older brother as the 19 year-old who sacrificed his life for the country.

"I am very grateful that long after I'm gone and my family is gone, decades from now people will be able to drive by and look and see his name and he will be remembered," said Bob Good.
