Suspect in New Castle homicide found, arrested in Florida
The suspect in a New Castle homicide has been found and arrested in Florida on Wednesday.
According to a post on the New Castle Police Department's Facebook page, 20-year-old Leighton Weaver of Youngstown was found and arrested in Miami, Florida on Wednesday, May 10.
Weaver is facing charges of criminal homicide, having weapons under disability, carrying a firearm without a license, and recklessly endangering another person.
The Lawrence County District Attorney's Office will begin the extradition process to bring Weaver back to Pennsylvania to face these charges.
The charges stem from the killing of 42-year-old Lance Louis on April 19. Investigation revealed that Louis was shot in front of a home on Adams Street in New Castle while in the driver's seat of a vehicle.
Louis was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased after all attempts to revive him failed.
Weaver is also charged with resisting arrest and is scheduled for a hearing in Florida on Tuesday morning.
