Judge suspends jail sentence for man arrested in Mahoning County human trafficking sting

An Atwater, Ohio man sentenced to spend a year in jail after being caught in a human trafficking sting has been released early by the judge who handed down that sentence.
Mahoning County Common Pleas Court Judge John Durkin last week granted judicial early release for 60-year-old Brian Rogers, who pleaded guilty in October to compelling prostitution and attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
Rogers was one of ten men arrested last summer during a two-month-long sting operation targeting alleged predators going online to arrange sexual activity with children.
Sheriff Jerry Greene announced in August that 34 people had been arrested by the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Taskforce during an effort known as Operation Full Court Press.
The investigation involved federal, state, and local agencies posing as underaged individuals.
Judge Durkin placed Rogers on probation for three years and declared that he must register as a Tier Two Sex Offender.
