Youngstown man charged in relation to Wednesday morning homicide in New Castle
A Youngstown man is charged with in relation to an early-morning homicide incident in New Castle on Wednesday.
According to the New Castle Police Department's Facebook page, police responded to a report of a crash with injuries at the intersection of Cascade Street and Butler Avenue shortly after 2:30 Wednesday morning.
Upon arrival, police observed a vehicle on fire crashed into a utility pole, as well as a 42-year-old man, later identified as Lance Louis lying on the ground.
Louis was transported to a local hospital where it was later discovered that he had a bullet wound in his back. He was pronounced dead after all attempts to revive him were exhausted.
Investigation revealed that Louis was shot in front of a residence on Adams Street in New Castle while he was in the driver's seat of a vehicle.
Police were able to identify the suspect as 20-year-old Leighton Weaver of Youngstown, who was also wanted on probation/parole violations warrants out of the State of Ohio.
Weaver is being charged with Criminal Homicide, persons not to possess firearms, firearms not to be carried without a license and recklessly endangering another person.
