Austintown man going to prison for robbing party shop
An Austintown man has been sentenced to four-to-six years in prison after pleading guilty to robbing a convenience store less than a mile from his home.
Samuel Malmisur, 38, entered the plea Tuesday in the courtroom of Common Pleas Judge Anthony Donofrio.
Austintown Township Police say Malmisur walked into Conroy’s West party shop on South Meridian Road just before 3 a.m. on February 26 wearing a medical mask over his face and telling the clerk he had a gun.
After taking more than $700 from the cash drawer, the suspect demanded the clerk hand over the keys to his car.
The clerk complied, but gave the robber the key that would only unlock the car door, but not turn on the ignition of the Prius.
The suspect left the store on foot.
After reviewing the security video, the store employee told police he recognized the suspect as a regular customer who had been in the store twice on the day before the robbery.
