Youngstown Police detectives are currently conducting interviews with witnesses to gather more information on a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a local teen Saturday night.

Youngstown Police Captain, Jason Simon tells 21 News a few witnesses are cooperating with police and providing them information about what they saw that night and Simon says police do have a few suspects in mind.

"We want to make sure we have good valuable and correct information. We'd rather take a little bit of time and arrest the right person then arrest someone with less amount of evidence that we could bring to court," Simon said.

At a press conference held on Monday, police urged anyone who knew anything about the incident to talk to detectives about it stating that you should not be afraid of being seen as a snitch if you were an innocent bystander.

No arrests have been made at this time.

In addition, an Instagram page has been set up by friends and family of victim, Amya Monserrat to honor her life and share her story with the community. The page is @ripamya.

According to a post on the page's Instagram Story, those who knew Monserrat personally are encouraged to send pictures of her to this account for a slideshow that will be shown at her funeral.
