A legendary pizza shop in the Mahoning Valley is now under new ownership. 

Uptown Pizza has recently announced on its Facebook page that both locations, one in Boardman and one in Liberty Township have been sold and are under new ownership.

"Though this may be shocking and quite upsetting to many of our loyal customers, the previous owners/managers, Mark and Starr Campbell feel it is time to give themselves and Uptown new opportunities," the post said.

21 News spoke with new owner, Sal Santisi, who is the owner of Santisi Wholesale Foods in Youngstown. Santisi's company has been the supplier for Uptown Pizza for many years.

Santisi tells 21 News he was approached by the Campbells regarding the purchase of the business, and the purchase was made official on January 17, 2023. He says he intends to keep everything about the business "as close to the same as possible."

Despite the new ownership, Santisi tells us Mark Campbell plans on staying with the business until he hits retirement age in 2026.

When asked about expanding the business, Santisi told us there are no official plans to do so at this time.
