One of the defendants in the Warren arson that killed a teen waived his right to a speedy trial Wednesday.

Zackary Gurd, 23, had his trial date set for February 12, 2024.

Gurd is one of three people set to face trial for the death of 16-year-old Chassidy Broadstone.

According to Warren Police, Gurd is accused of bringing a can of gasoline into the home on the night of January 19, which is believed to have started the fatal blaze.

Gurd was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Richmond, Virginia on February 3, and extradited back to Ohio on March 5.

Gurd, along with Brendan Daviduk and Patricia Zarlingo are charged with aggravated murder, attempted murder, arson, burglary, and tampering with evidence.
