A Warren man awaits sentencing after pleading guilty to a charge filed in connection with a traffic accident that claimed the life of a motorcyclist in that city.

Philip Deon Honzu, 41, appeared before a judge in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court on Monday, and pleaded guilty to on felony count of leaving the scene of an accident.

Honzu surrendered to Warren Police in December 2021, just days after 52-year-old Roy Mason was struck by a Jeep Cherokee as he was riding his motorcycle along East Market Street.

Honzu is the suspected motorist from a hit and run accident from Dec. 2, which resulted in the death of 52-year-old Roy Mason.

Police say Honzu fled the scene after running a red light and striking Mason on his motorcycle that night.

Honzu will be sentenced later.
