The East Palestine community is showing off a welcome addition to the fire department as the village continues its recovery from damage caused by the February 3 Norfolk Southern derailment, chemical spill, and fire.

A post on the fire department’s Facebook page is thanking Penn Care medical supply of Niles for working to deliver a new ambulance as fast as possible.

Manufactured by Demers Ambulances of Van Wert Ohio, the company says the MXP 170 model is designed to handle extreme weather conditions and terrain.

Features include LED-lighted adjustable cabinets, and a sliding hidden walk-through door.
