Austintown man accused of robbing party shop, attempting to steal clerk's car
An Austintown man is being accused of robbing a convenience store less than a mile from his home.
Samuel Malmisur, 38, was booked into the county jail Friday on two counts of robbery.
Township Police believe Malmisur was the man who walked into Conroy’s West party shop on South Meridian Road just before 3 a.m. Sunday, wearing a medical mask over his face and telling the clerk he had a gun.
After taking more than $700 from the cash drawer, the suspect demanded the clerk to hand over the keys to his car.
The clerk complied, but gave the robber the key that would only unlock the car door, but not turn on the ignition of the Prius.
The suspect left the store on foot.
After reviewing video, the store employee told police he recognized the suspect as a regular customer who had been in the store twice on the day before the robbery.
Malmisur is scheduled to answer the robbery charges during a court appearance scheduled for Monday
