Youngstown’s Covelli Centre will host a news conference Monday to update two cold cases involving unidentified human remains.

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost along with members of the Youngstown Police Department will be on hand, along with a virtual appearance by Fayette County Sheriff Vernon Stanforth at 1 p.m. in the Covelli Centre Community Room.

According to Youngstown Police Captain Jason Simon, Police Chief Carl Davis will be joined by Mayor Jamael Tito Brown.

The Attorney General’s office supervises a Cold Case Unit that investigates unsolved homicides and sexual assaults.

As part of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Cold Case Unit reaches out to local law enforcement agencies to initiate a fresh look at unsolved cases.

The unit offers new forensic analysis and investigative resources such as DNA identification.

Neither Youngstown Pole nor the Attorney General have yet released more information about the cases.
