A teenager was  killed, and several other people were injured in a crash that shut down a road in Mercer County.

Dispatchers received a call just after 2:30 p.m. Sunday that a car was heavily damaged when it overturned along Mercer Butler Pike Road near Amsterdam Road in Liberty Township.

According to the Mercer County Coroner, 17-year-old passenger in the car, Derrick Hofmann of Prospect, Pennsylvania died in the crash.

There were several other people in the car which was heavily damaged.

Two medical helicopters were dispatched.  One of the victims was a male in his 20’s who suffered head injuries. One victim was flown to Mercy Hospital in Youngstown.

21 News is working to learn the names of those involved and their conditions.

As of early Monday, State Police were still working on the investigation and are expected to have more information later in the day.

The stretch of Mercer Butler Pike Road was shut down during the investigation.
