A large grocery chain is removing water sourced from Columbiana County from its shelves after the East Palestine train derailment.

According to the release, Giant Eagle is removing water from the facility because it is approximately 25 miles southwest of East Palestine.

The company says it reviewed the water and made the decision out of caution.

The only Giant Eagle brand products from the facility are spring water packaged in gallon-size-or-greater containers.

Giant Eagle says they've been in daily contact with a representative from the Salineville facility and learned the water in the products comes from a protected spring at a higher elevation than East Palestine and isn't near the groundwater impacted by the derailment.

A third-party lab has been regularly testing the Salineville facility's water and has not found any evidence of the water being negatively impacted.

Giant Eagle is keeping the products off the shelves until further notice.
