Youngstown church hosting bingo nights to support Ukrainians
All proceeds from the games will provide clothes, medicine and food for Ukrainians.
One local church wants to make sure the people of Ukraine aren't forgotten.
Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Youngstown is helping to support Ukrainian citizens nearly one year after Russia's invasion of the land. The church will host bingo games every Wednesday in March from 6:45 to 10 p.m.
As a native of the country, Father Mykola Zomchak has not given up efforts providing relief and aid for suffering Ukrainians.
"We cannot stay silent [about] any tragedy that happens in the world. And especially for us Ukrainian Americans here in the United States, we want to help those people," Zomchak said.
Food, music, and prizes are included for participant during the month long fundraising event. All proceeds from the games will provide clothes, medicine and food for Ukrainians.
Last year the church collected $12,000 for those impacted by the war in Ukraine. The funds gathered contributed to providing generators, food and more than 100 ambulances for people overcoming substantial losses.
