Mahoning County Auditor Ralph T. Meacham is reminding taxpayers that they can file a complaint against the valuation of real property if they disagree with the fair market value the Auditor has placed on their property for the tax year of 2022.

Filing this complaint appeals the value placed on a property, not the amount of taxes due on a property.

If a taxpayer chooses to file a complaint, a hearing may be scheduled. This hearing fives taxpayers an opportunity to present evidence to the Board of Revision in support of their opinion of value.

According to the Auditor, supporting evidence can include settlement statement, purchase agreements and fee appraisals. This evidence could expedite the appeal process.

The Complaint Against the Valuation of Real Property packet can be found on the Board of Revision page on the Auditor's website or taxpayers can call Auditor Meacham's office at 330-740-2010 to request a form be mailed to them.

Complaints have to be filed and received in the Mahoning County Auditor's Office on or before the close of business on March 31, 2023.
