State Troopers are investigating the death of a missing Boardman man who was struck by a car as he walked along State Route 7 in Vernon Township.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says 88-year-old James Ditallo was walking along Route 7 near Route 88 when he was  struck by a Toyota Camry  shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday.

Ditallo had been listed as an endangered missing adult by authorities late Thursday after he drove away from his Aquadale home at around 5 p.m.

The patrol says Ditallo, who was standing in the northbound lane when he was hit, died from his injuries.

The driver of the car, a 55-year-old Brookfield man, was not injured.

State Route 7 was closed in the area of the crash during the investigation. It has since reopened.
