Many pet owners who live within one mile of ground zero where the train derailment and crash happened, have been upset since they have not been allowed to go back to their homes to check on their pets.

But today folks were grateful telling WFMJ News the National Guard Members allowed them to go back to their home to pick up their pet.

Others also confirmed members of the Ohio National Guard allowed them to return home for a short time to give their dogs and cats food and water.

The furry friends were more than thrilled to see their pack or family members.

In the morning authorities in East Palestine hope to have a better time frame for when folks can return home.

For residents forced from their homes since Friday there truly is no place like home with their furry canine and feline friends.
