East High School student accused of repeatedly hitting female student with chair

An East High School student has been arrested after police say he assaulted a female student with a chair several times.
According to a police report, a Sheriff's Deputy working as a school security officer observed a female student being carried down the hallway screaming and crying.
The Deputy observed the student's right cheek to be swollen and scratches on her neck and her bottom lip appeared to be bleeding.
Police spoke to the student, as well as several of her classmates, who told them a student, later identified as 18-year-old Elias Rodriguez hit her with a chair several times and continued to fight with her afterwards until another student intervened.
Since Rodriguez was 18 years old, police placed him under arrest and booked in the Mahoning County Jail and is facing a felonious assault charge.
