A new park is coming to Trumbull County.

A capital budget investment has led to the approval to create the Vienna Air Heritage Park in coordination with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the Western Reserve Port Authority (WRPA).

State Rep. Mike Loychik made the announcement after the WRPA board approved the purchase of 22 acres in Vienna for the park just outside of the Youngstown Air Reserve Station's fence.

The purchase totaled just over $200,000 from the state capital budget.

According to the release, the park will showcase the history of the 910th Airlift Wing and Air Force Reserve in Northeast Ohio. It will include storyboards, aircraft displays and biographies of Valley leaders who played a role in the preservation of the military in Vienna.

The Youngstown Air Reserve Station has a long history in the Valley, starting in 1952.

YARS is also the largest employer in Trumbull County with close to 2,000 employees and over $150 million in annual economic impact.
