The start of the high school softball season is still more than two months away but work is progressing on a new field for the Poland high school team.

The $400,000 price tag was paid in part by the Poland All Sports booster club and "friends" of the softball program.

The new field is near the baseball field and includes dugouts, a press box and soon to be erected scoreboard in right field.

The Poland softball program played on campus in the early 2000's at the site of the current home parking lot of the football stadium.

Since then they've played home games at North Elementary.

The Bulldogs will christen the field March 27 against Hubbard.
