Man convicted of infamous Youngstown murder dies in prison
One of two men sentenced for fatally shooting an elderly man and seriously wounding his wife as they drove home from church services in Youngstown has died in prison.
Kevin Agee, who would have been 38 years old in March, died at the Lake Erie Correctional Institution where he was serving a sentence of 39-years-to-life. Online records do not specify the cause of Agee’s death.
Investigators say Agee was with Aubrey Toney on September 25, 2010, when Toney fired shots into a Cadillac being driven by 74-year-old Thomas Repchic and he and his wife Jacqueline were leaving Saturday Mass at St. Dominic’s Church on Youngstown’s South Side.
Jacqueline Repchic told investigators that after hearing three gunshots, her husband stopped talking and she fell out of the car. She told a jury that her foot was shot away.
Police said at the time that they believed the shootings involved a case of mistaken identity since the intended target drove a car similar to Repchic's.
Repchic’s grandson said that the couple was preparing for a wedding on the day of the shootings. Jacqueline Repchic passed away in 2017.
Aubrey Toney, who was convicted of murder and felonious assault, is serving 29-years-to-life. He’s eligible for a parole hearing in 2054.
