An Austintown man is going to prison for the stabbing death of a Girard man.

Trumbull County Judge Ronald Rice on Thursday handed down a sentence of six-to-nine years to 21-year-old Cole Conti, who pleaded guilty earlier to voluntary manslaughter.

According to a report from Girard police, 31-year-old William Lowery was stabbed just after midnight on July 30, 2022, at a home on Trumbull Avenue.

Officers say they were told that Conti was one of three men were drinking when Lowry, allegedly struck one of the men in the face with his fist.

Conti told police he and another man began fighting Lowry and that he pulled out a knife and stabbed Lowry five times.

Lowry ended up in a hospital where he died.
