This Christmas Eve, Weekend Today Anchor Sydney Canty brought her mom to show us how to make sweet potato pie, as is the Canty family tradition for the holidays!
 
Ingredients:
-5 Sweet potatoes
 
-1 stick of butter
 
-1 Tablespoon vanilla flavoring 
 
-2.5 cups white sugar 
 
-Half teaspoon of nutmeg
 
-1 teaspoon cinnamon
 
-1 teaspoon lemon juice
 
-Half cup carnation milk
 
-Half can of eagle brand sweetened milk
 
-Half cup of brown sugar
 
-Half cup of honey
 
-3 to 4 eggs or one egg per pie
 
-3 to 4 pie crusts 
 
Recipe:
Step 1: Boil your sweet potatoes until done. 
 
Step 2: Peel skin off of potatoes and blend them in a bowl until all the strings are out of the mixture.
 
Step 3: Rinse strings off of blender mixers and blend again.
 
Step 4: Add in all other ingredients EXCEPT the eggs.
 
Step 5: Sit mixture in the refrigerator overnight to let flavors sit.
 
Step 6: Add your eggs, mix it up, pour into pie crusts.
 
Step 7: Bake for 50 minutes to an hour on 350 degrees in the oven. 
 
Step 8: ENJOY!
