Officers first to arrive at a murder scene on Youngstown's West Side said there were no signs of forced entry a the Cherry Hill Avenue home where two bodies were found inside.

A police report obtained by 21 News says a man who came to the home at around 3 p.m. Tuesday to retrieve some belongings discovered the bodies of a 51-year-old male and a 41-year-old female.

The man told dispatchers he first thought he had stumbled upon a drug overdose at the home on the 1900 block of Cherry Hill Avenue near Belle Vista.

The 911 caller told dispatchers they did not think the two people were breathing and didn't want to touch them.

After finding blood and several shell casings on the floor, police say the incident became a homicide investigation.

"A crime this horrendous so close to Christmas is going to be a little more traumatizing than it would any other time of the year," Youngstown Police Captain Jason Simon said.

This is why police brought in a mental health advocate to help ease the burden.

At this point, there are no suspects or persons of interest. Police haven't said if this was a Targeted shooting or not.

Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims.
