Youngstown Police Lieutenant fired after a year and a half on paid leave
Youngstown Police Lieutenant, Brian Flynn has been fired according to Youngstown Law Director, Jeff Limbian. Flynn was placed on paid leave in March of 2021.
According to Flynn's personnel file, in April of 2021, an investigation took place stemming from alleged unwanted sexual contact in his office back in 2015. However, the nature of the alleged contact is unclear.
Additionally, In October of 2022, Flynn was charged with 14 counts of Dereliction of Duty.
According to Limbian, the charges stem from an alleged failure to investigate over a dozen cases of child sex abuse or child pornography.
"There were in excess of 20 cases forwarded to Lieutenant Flynn or his subordinates and most all of them were not investigated. We chose the 14 most liable," Limbian said.
Flynn's pretrial hearing is scheduled for January 13, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Youngstown Municipal Court.
