Restaurant and convenience chain, Sheetz has announced it is reducing the price of one of its gasoline products to $1.99 a gallon during the Thanksgiving week.

This promotion is for Unleaded 88 gasoline and will begin on Monday, November 21st and last through Monday November 28, 2022.

With prices of just about everything else skyrocketing, the price cut could be a blessing to what AAA estimates will be a 1.5% increase in the number of people driving during the holiday compared to 2021. This year is projected to be the third busiest for Thanksgiving travel since AAA started tracking in 2000.

As of early Monday, AAA showed the average price of $3.47 for regular gas in Mahoning Valley and $4.02 in Mercer County, Pennsylvania.

“We hope this price reduction provides much-needed relief at the pump for our customers as they travel for the Thanksgiving holiday,” said Travis Sheetz, President and CEO of Sheetz.

The price will only be available at the 368 Sheetz stores that offer Unleaded 88. Drivers can check if their local Sheetz sells Unleaded 88 through the Sheetz mobile app or website.

According to a media statement from Sheetz, Unleaded 88 has been approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for use in all 2001 and newer cars, trucks and SUVs.

Unleaded 88 contains 5 percent more ethanol than Unleaded 87.

Unleaded 88 burns cleaner and reduces toxins, making it more environmentally friendly, according to Sheetz, which adds that it provides a higher-octane level than regular 87 fuel that helps boost horsepower and efficiency in a vehicle.
