The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade may be all the way in New York, but some Austintown Middle School students are bringing a miniature version to their school on Monday, November 21.

Students will display mini floats mimicking the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Monday between in Austintown Middle School. This display will not be open to the public, however.

The display is part of a project inspired by the book "Balloons Over Broadway" by Melissa Sweet. After reading the book, students were tasked with researching the parade and find 15 fun facts about it.

But it didn't end there. After completing their research, students were then tasked with constructing their own mini parade float or balloon to accompany their fun facts.

A spokesperson for the Austintown School District tells 21 News that teachers will be holding a fan-favorite vote among students and staff. Prizes will be given to the selected winner.

The spokesperson for the district told 21 News that Austintown Middle School did this project in 2021 as well and the official Macy's Twitter page retweeted a photo of the floats.

The district is hoping to once again gain recognition from Macy's this year.
