Warren Kiwanis 44th annual Turkey Trot set

This year's 44th Annual Warren Kiwanis Club Turkey Trot race has gone to the dogs.
The race, set for November 24 at Kent State Trumbull Campus, St. Route 45 in Champion Township, will for the first time add a dog parade.
Events begin at 8:30 AM with a 1k Kids Run and Dog Parade, followed at 9 AM with a 2-Mile Walk/Run. The final event is the 5-Mile Run which will start at 10 am. Race awards include participation ribbons in the 1K Kids Event, medals in the 2-Mile and 5-Mile events, for male and female winners, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, in 14 age groups. The top three overall finishers in the 5-Mile event receive cash prizes. The top three overall male and female finishers in the 2-Mile event get plaques. In the 5 –Mile event, the top five male and female finishers get plaques. Trophies will be awarded to Grand Master in the 5-Mile event, male and female, ages 50+ and Master, male and female, ages 40+.
To join, pre-register for the event by Nov. 21 and the cost is $25, and is $30 from November 22 until the event.
According to the press release, at least $1 from every registration benefits Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley while other proceeds will be used for the Warren Kiwanis Club programs for the youth, including scholarships, reading programs, and educational materials and for aid to senior citizens and community improvement efforts.
The Mathews High School Key Club hold a "Pilgrims & Pup-kins Parade" during the Turkey Trot. Dog Parade Registration Fee is $5.00 per dog, cash only, payable at the event at the Mathews Key Club parade registration table, beginning at 7:30 AM.
All dogs must be leashed, and the best-dressed pups will receive prizes.
