Aqua Ohio was working Tuesday morning to repair seven water line breaks that shut down the Struthers Municipal Building, and caused some property damage and closed a road in Lowellville.

Lowellville Village administrator Rich Day tells 21 News that water lines burst at Youngstown Lowellville Road and Walnut Street earlier in the morning, closing the intersection while repairs were being made.

Day says there were three other breaks. One was at Youngstown Lowellville Road and Cooper, another was on Liberty Street and a fourth was on Park Avenue

The property damage included flooded basements at Enertech Electrical.

Another water line that supplies the Struthers Municipal Building broke. Struthers Safety Service Director Bob Benson tells 21 News that since Aqua crews were tied up on the breaks in Lowellville, they had to shut off water to the municipal building and sent all the workers home for the day while they wait for repairs to be made.

A representative for Aqua tells 21 News that there were six breaks in Lowellville and one in Struthers leaving 70 properties without water until repairs are made.

The representative says it's possible that the Lowellville breaks were related to one another. As of noon, three of the Lowellville breaks had been repaired.

Aqua hired a contractor to help make repairs which they hope to have completed by 4 p.m. Tuesday.

If boil alerts are needed, those Aqua customers will be contacted by the utility.
