The city of Warren is preparing to construct the largest project the city has seen in years.

Funds for Warren's Future volunteer administrator, Dennis Blank,  is partnering with Springboro-based company, Dillon  LLC  to complete the $150 million project.

It's expected to be a 22-acre "mixed-use" development, which means it will include a variety of amenities like housing, shopping, restaurants, office space entertainment and recreation.

Blank provided limited details on where the location will be in the city but says the development will offer commercial and retail spaces in hopes of inviting a new audience, especially as the Voltage Valley continues to develop and bring in more workforce.

"This will attract new residents and new visitors," he said, adding "We are looking to attract a younger, more affluent and skilled group of people."

Blank informed 21 News the project will use local parks and The Mahoning River as an additional setting that includes recreational opportunities.

Third ward councilman, Greg Greathouse, says he is confident this project will help the community.

"I am very optimistic about the info we've received with this recent announcement," Greathouse said.

Blank anticipates the development to include hotels, apartments, condominiums, retail and office space.

"It will attract new residents and new visitors," Blank said.

The organization's goal is to start building in 2023.
