Girard Pre-K through 6 classes were placed on lockdown Thursday after an incident at a house near the school at 702 E. Prospect St. in the city.

Girard police were at the scene, however, the district's superintendent's office and a school spokesman said that no students were  in danger and the lockdown was a precaution, but did not involve anything happening at the school.

At 3:18 p.m., students were dismissed to go home for the day.
