The Youngstown Business Incubator (YBI) has announced on Thursday the winners of its 2022 Shark Tank event.

The event, based on the television show of the same name, highlights local entrepreneurs looking to secure funding to grow their business.

This year, five early-stage businesses competed for two $5,000 cash prizes provided by Medical Mututal. A panel of six judges or "sharks" judged the contestants to award the first cash prize, with the winner of the second being decided by an audience vote.

The two winners are as follows:

- Audience Choice: YOGO Bikeshare, the first ever micro-mobility platform in Youngstown allowing patrons to dock a bike from one location and return them to another.

- Judges Choice: Morgen Technology, which provides building owners with operational insight ideal for older, existing structures lacking infrastructure because it employs wireless sensors that do not require batteries and transmits the data using a patent-pending radio technology.

This year's sharks included Handel's Ice Cream President, Leonard J. Fisher, Philanthropist, Ellen Tressel, Serial Entrepreneur Ray Mancini, Schroedel Scullin & Bestic LLC Senior Advisor, Tom Stabi, QuickMED Urgent Care CEO, Lena Esmail and HLW Fastrack CEO and Founder, Herbert Washington.
