The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the 2022 Salem Quakerfest, a fall festival that offers child friendly games, treats and activities for free on Saturday Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The free event will take place in downtown Salem at McCulloch Park, located at 585 E. State St, and several other locations on Broadway, Lundy, Penn, Pershing and State Street. 

Starting at 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. at McCulloch Park there will be a Birds of Prey Display by Raptor Hallow Sanctuary, giving visitors a chance to explore indoor nature education programs.

Activities will include making balloon sculptures of their favorite animals and shapes, starting at noon through 2 pm.

Other new additions at the festival include meet and greets with Disney favorites, Captain America and Princess Elsa from Frozen from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Other activities taking place include: 

  • Sunshine snack bags and tattoos for kids sponsored by The Brightside Project.
  • Children's straw maze
  • Children's Games
  • Historical walks and displays presented by The Salem Historical Society Museum 
  • Free cotton candy and make and take bird seed ornaments from Wild City Feed and Seed
  • Quakerfest kid crawl 

To participate in the crawl, kids will need to pick up and complete an entry form at McCulloch Park or at participating locations at the fest. 

To enter into the drawing, kids must visit at least 15 of the  19 locations listed on the entry form and receive a stamp from each place. Once the total is collected, entry forms are to be returned to McCulloch Park. 

Three winners will be drawn and contacted the week of Oct 10. Prizes will be awarded and sponsored by The Agent Insurance Services.

  Vendors will be located at Courtyard Square from 12-6p.m.
