Hubbard Pool recently installed brand-new diving blocks in the facility courtesy of donations from the local community. Those donors were the first to take a dive off the new boards on Sunday.

In February of 2021, Hubbard Pool lost revenue to nationwide lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That's why pool director, Adrienne Poullas started a fundraiser to replace the pool's old, irreparable diving blocks.

Eighteen months later, Poullas was able to secure $18,200 in donations, which was used to purchase six brand-new diving blocks.

"We sent a lot of letters and did a lot of cold-calling, unsure if we could even get half of what we needed. Instead, the community came through and we ended up only $700 short of the total. Grateful is an understatement," Poullas said.

There were 15 family donors ($100), five gold donors ($1,500) and three platinum donors ($3,000).

Gold donors include Braydich Dental, Youthology Medspa, Straightline Interiors, Artasia Framing & More and Kraken Swimming Booster Club. Platinum donors include Kilar Fabrication, Julianne Carsone & Family and Hubbard High School Athletics.
