The son of the late evangelist Billy Graham brought a simple message that brought in a packed house to The Youngstown Foundation Amphitheater Tuesday night.

The 'God Loves You Tour' with Franklin Graham made 1 of their 6 stops in Youngstown to spread good news and faith. It was a powerful evening as 21 News spoke with Graham on what this stop means for the Mahoning Valley.

More than 5,200 people from across the Mahoning and Shenango Valleys celebrated their faith at the event.

"They just wonder what hope they have for them and their family, and I want them to know God hasn't turned his back on them," said Franklin Graham to 21 News before the event. "God loves them and God cares for them. I want people to know how they can have a relationship with Him."

21 News' Erin Simonek spoke with Graham Tuesday as they made their first two stops in Pennsylvania this weekend before making their way to downtown's Amphitheater.

"People are still searching and wanting to know what's out there, what's more than this," Graham explained. "Is there a God? And if there is a God, how can I talk to Him? I believe this is where our nation's backbone of hard work, grit, and determination lies, but so many people in our country are struggling. They're looking for hope, peace, and purpose in their lives. We're coming to remind everyone there is Good News! God loves us, and He sent His Son Jesus Christ to earth to save us from our sins."

Over 200 Valley churches supported the tour where the crowd enjoyed Christian artists and enjoyed a message from Graham. Christian rock band, Newsboys and Marcos Witts also took part in the event.

With current community struggles of broken relationships, addiction, fear, and desperation, Graham said these should bring us closer to our faith. Graham spoke on the divide in our country and how faith can bring us together, reminding the crowd that sin separates us from God and that there's always time to turn back to him.

"People are coming," Graham added. "It poured rain, I thought no body was going to come in the rain. The place was packed. People are hungry, their souls are hungry."

The event was entirely free. This was likely the largest attended religious event at the Amp. The tour moves on to Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota this week, to round out 1000 miles of the tour.
