1997: The Jewish Journal, a biweekly paper edited by Sherry Weinblatt in the basement of the Youngstown Jewish Community Center, marks ten years of publication. It is the successor to the Jewish Times, published for 41 years by Harry Alter.
Thirty-three of the 39 past Homecoming Queens of United Local High School returns for the 1997 homecoming parade. Among them were three sisters, Robin DeVille Stewart, 1987; Dawn DeVile, 1989; and Brook DeVille, 1994.
