The Austintown Elementary School PTA uses humor to help parents safely get their children to and from school.
The Parent Teacher’s Association has posted signs along the school drop-off point that give drivers the do’s and don’ts.
The signs are based on music and other media themes that parents of a particular generation may recognize.
A sign with a picture of singer MC Hammer says, “Can’t Park Here” – a reference to the rapper’s 1990 song “U Can’t Touch This.”
Another sign that says, “Don’t go blocking drop-off lanes,” has a picture of the hip hop group TLC which had a hit in 1995 with the song “Don’t go Chasing Waterfalls.”
The boy band NSYNC gets in on the act with a sign that reads, “Tell the kids bye, bye, bye.”
Not all themes are related to music.
An episode from the TV sitcom “Friends” is referenced with actor David Schwimmer carrying a couch, reminding parents to “Pivot!! Out of the drop-off line.”
Actor Ryan Gosling, who was pictured on social media themes with the words “Hey girl,” has been adapted for a sign that reads, “Hey girl, move your car all the way up.”
