14-year-old faces felony charge after alleged school threat

Just days into the new school year, a 14-year-old is facing a felony charge after an alleged threat at Girard high school.
According to Superintendent Bryan O'Hara, the school got an anonymous tip through the district's website about a threat made to the school.
Girard police chief John Norman tells 21 News the student reportedly said throughout the day that he was "going to bring a gun and shoot up the place".
Chief Norman says through the interviews they conducted with both witnesses and the student; they found the threat credible. He adds that a detailed tip and good detective work led to a positive outcome.
"In a school setting, the way things are in the world right now and the last few years with school shootings, we take everything as a serious threat until we prove that it's not a serious threat," said Norman.
O'Hara immediately contacted Girard Police, and police identified the suspect as a student at the high school. Norman says police did not find any guns or ammunition in the teen's possession.
The student is in the Trumbull County JJC and facing a charge of felony inducing panic. So far, there's no word when he'll face a judge.
