A judge has ordered that a Mercer man remains in federal custody for now after he was accused of threatening to kill FBI agents in reference to the recent FBI raid at Mar-a-Lago.

During an initial video appearance on Monday in U.S. District Court in Pittsburgh, Magistrate Judge Lisa Pupo Lenihan scheduled a detention hearing on Thursday for 46-year-old Adam Bies.

Authorities arrested Bies on Saturday, charging him with Influencing, Impeding, or Retaliating against Federal Law Enforcement Officers.

According to an affidavit, the FBI's National Threat Operations Section (NTOS) Social Media Exploitation (SMEX) team was alerted of a post from a user of the right-wing social media outlet Gab with the screen name, "BlankFocus" reading "If you work for the FBI, then you deserve to die."

An emergency disclosure request was submitted to Gab. In response, Gab provided the subscriber information regarding the user's email address.

In a chatlog disclosed by Gab, the user, later identified as Bies, said, "I use a fake name for my photography and Gab so that corporate Murica can't Google me out of a job."

The affidavit states that it is believed that Bies used the alias "Adam Campbell" to thwart law enforcement after making the threats.

Another post from Bies reads, "I'll shoot an SS officer in the head just as quick as I'd shoot a KGB officer in the head. Keep that in mind. There are plenty of other letters in the alphabet. Police state scum are police state scum. Period."

Another post from Bies was in response to a Fox News story relating to FBI Director Christopher Wray "push[ing] back on threats following unprecedented raid on Trump."

The post read, "Hey [expletive]. Why don't you send them my threats so that they'd at least have something credible to show on Fox News. Just scrub my timeline for the posts you didn't delete after you threatened to ban me. I sincerely believe that if you work for the FBI, you deserve to die."

Another post indicates that Bies is willing to commit violence to support his beliefs even if it costs him his own life. A portion of the post reads, "I already know that I'm going to die at the hands of these piece of [expletive] child molesting scumbags. My only goal is to kill more of them before I drop."

According to the affidavit, these posts, along with many others (pictured below), indicate that there is probable cause that Bies' threats violate Title 18 of the United States Code.

Title 18 criminalizes threats to assault or murder a federal law enforcement officer with the intent to impede, intimidate and interfere with such law enforcement officer while engaged in the performance of official duties.

According to a press release from Pennsylvania's Department of Justice, Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Bengel is prosecuting Bies' case.

The FBI’s Pittsburgh Field Office, North Country Violent Offender Task Force, Pennsylvania State Police, and the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General are investigating the case.

A detention hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
