Owner charged after dog attacks 75-year-old Warren woman
A Warren man is due in court to answer a charge after a 75-year-old neighbor says she was attacked by a dog after the owner allegedly invited her over to pet it.
Jody Moore, 58, of Reeves Rd., is charged with violating Warren's vicious dog ordinance.
The charge stems from a July 28th incident in which the woman told police she was out walking when Moore allegedly invited her onto his property to have his dog lick her.
According to the police report, the woman said the dog attacked her, causing traumatic injuries to her head, neck, and arm.
The woman was taken to Trumbull Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries described in the report as "major".
Moore, the dog's owner, told police a different version of what happened saying he was bringing the dog out on a leash when the woman asked if she could see his dog.
He says he brought the dog over to the woman. After the dog licked the woman's hand, Moore says his pet attacked her.
The woman fell to the ground and continued to attack her.
Moore says he was unable to pull the dog off the woman.
The attack ended when a passerby honked a car horn, according to Moore, who told police that the dog was up to date on its shots.
Officers say they saw bloodstains on the grass at the site of the attack.
A court summons has been issued for Moore to answer the charge in Warren Municipal Court on August 24.
