The Mahoning County Green Team will be hosting one scrap tire recycling event along with multiple household electronic recycling events throughout the month of August.
The scrap tire event will be held on Saturday, August 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Canfield Fairgrounds.
The event's goal is to help Mahoning County residents properly recycle and dispose of old tires, as waste tires that are illegally dumped or stored improperly can pose a serious threat to public health and safety as well as the environment.
The first four passenger tires are free, but each additional passenger tire is $2 each. Semi tires are $10 each and agricultural tires are $20 each.
If your last name begins with the letters, A-F, recycling will take place between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Those with last names beginning with G-N should show up between 11:00 a.m. and noon, and those with last names beginning with O-Z should show up between noon and 1:00 p.m.
The household electronic waste recycling events will be taking place on Tuesdays and Thursdays now through September 3, and could possibly extend into October if enough money is made.
