Hollywood Gaming, Phantom Fireworks seek sports betting licenses
Hollywood Gaming and Phantom Fireworks are asking the Ohio Casino Control Commission to approve licenses to conduct sports betting which is slated to begin in the state early next year.
Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley has applied for two types of licenses.
The “Type A” Sports Gaming Proprietor License allows its holder to offer sports gaming via a computer website or mobile application.
Initially, the Commission may issue up to 25 Type-A Licenses. As of Friday, 22 applications had been received for Type A licenses.
After the issuance of 25 Type A Licenses, the Commission may issue additional licenses to eligible applicants who can demonstrate a market need for additional Type A License holders.
Hollywood Gaming has also applied for a “Type B” License which would allow in-person sports gaming at its venue on Route 46 in Austintown.
Phantom Fireworks has also applied for a Type B License.
The Commission may issue up to 40 Type B Licenses. As of Friday, 24 applications had been submitted.
