A 31-year-old woman has been charged following an 18-hour-long standoff with police at an Austintown apartment complex that ended with an officer-involved shooting.

Charges of inducing panic and child endangering have been filed against Imonie Hackett who was wheeled out of her Westchester Square Apartment on a stretcher Tuesday afternoon.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol has not yet released further details about the shooting or Hackett's condition.  A warrant has been issued for her arrest after she is released from the hospital.

A child was brought out safely from the apartment around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Austintown Police, a SWAT unit, Sheriff’s Deputies, and Youngstown Police surrounded the apartment starting before 10 p.m. Monday night.

According to dispatch phone records, a woman came into the apartment hallway holding a gun late Monday.

The woman has refused police orders to come out with her hands up.  Police had information that there was a child inside the apartment.

A rescue squad was called to standby for what was described as a psychiatric patient.

Earlier Tuesday, the Austintown Chief of Police Robert Gavalier told 21 News that the law enforcement officials were in communication with the person of concern, and confirmed that a child was also in the apartment as well. 

Police ordered residents living nearby to evacuate their apartments at around 10:30 p.m., some leaving without their shoes, forcing some to stay in their cars overnight.

At one point Hackett allegedly threatened to “start shooting”.

21 News is still working to find out if the suspect was hit, despite being led to an ambulance minutes after shots were fired. 

Police are not releasing any further information, other than Hackett was taken to the hospital.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation will handle the officer-involved shooting part of the investigation and Austintown police will handle the charges against Hackett.

Those who were displaced from their apartments during the ordeal, were not allowed back in until midnight last night.
