Liberty Township Police announce charges against Youngstown shooting suspect
Liberty Township Police charged a 55-year-old Youngstown man in the shooting of a 20-year-old man on Belmont Ave. and East. Liberty St. Friday, June 10, that evolved into a shoot-out with police.
Kevin Mallard has been charged with attempted murder, felonious assault with a gun specification, carrying a concealed weapon, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, and felony inducing panic.
According to the Liberty Township Police Department press release, the police are still investigating the shooting and asking anyone with information to contact the police department at 330-539-9847.
Mallard is accused of shooting Zach Woods in the face inside a car a the stop light Friday afternoon.
Liberty police have identified the suspect and victim involved in Friday's road rage shooting and police standoff.
A shootout occurred between the suspect Mallard and police officers after he allegedly fired at them near the intersection of Belmont Avenue and E. Liberty Street.
Woods was flown to Cleveland hospital where he is reported in serious condition.
